Black River Medical Center Behind The Scenes Tour

MUSC Health Florence Division representatives and administrators hosted a behind-the-scenes tour of the new MUSC Health Black River Medical Center on Thursday. Currently under construction and scheduled to open in January 2023, several media outlets were in attendance to see the progress of the project firsthand.

The 63,000 sq. ft. rural hospital will allow residents of the community to have access to a full range of modern diagnostic and interventional capabilities. Some of the services offered include 3-D mammography, MRI, nuclear medicine, CT scanning, on-site pharmacy, and a complete imaging department. The new facility features 25 inpatient beds, five observation beds, two operating theaters, and 16 emergency treatment areas.

When the new hospital opens, it will serve Williamsburg and lower Florence counties and assume the roles of Williamsburg Regional Hospital and Lake City Community Hospital.
