Construction of the new MUSC Health Black River Medical Center is getting closer to completion. Recently, another leap in the capability to offer unrivaled health care services was taken with the delivery of the new state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI machine.

Until now, there has not been a permanent MRI machine installed in the area. The new hospital will be able to provide this and a full range of modern diagnostic and interventional capabilities.

“We are thrilled to see the MUSC Health Black River Medical Center in the final stages of completion,” said MUSC Health Florence Division Chief Executive Officer Jay Hinesley. “The delivery of the MRI machine is another positive step toward offering one of many services we look forward to providing in Northern Williamsburg and Southern Florence County.”

The MRI machine is able to provide a noninvasive method of looking inside the body. Some of the most common uses for an MRI are to detect aneurysms, spinal cord disorders, stroke, tumors, and brain injuries, as well as to offer a view of any other part of the body.

MUSC Health Black River Medical Center is scheduled to open in January 2023.
